Bolangir: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the newly-built Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir district. Union Health Minister JP Nadda was also present on the occasion.
A total of 100 students have enrolled for the first batch of the institution beginning this academic session(2018-19).
The proposal for setting up of the hospital was first passed in the year 1999 by Western Odisha Development Council. While the foundation stone was laid by the CM in 2004, at least four MoUs between the state government and different private companies on establishment of the hospital were cancelled on different occasions.
The new institution has been named after legendary poet Bhima Bhoi, popularly known as ‘Santh Kabi’ who preached and propagated Mahima Dharma and professed the philosophy of Sunyabada (nothingness) in the state.
