Cuttack: A youth named Sunil Das allegedly cut his right hand with a sickle on Saturday after becoming a victim of the MOMO challenge. The youth has been admitted at SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The youth was immediately rush to the the Plastic Surgery department of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. His condition is stated to be stable now.
The victim’s father, Basudev Das, has revealed that his son was depressed for 2-3 days before taking this extreme step. He had displayed suicidal tendencies and had expressed his wish to die.
“He used to lock his room in the night and in the morning his eyes would be blood red. We assumed that he was probably engaged on his phone all night,” his father explained.
On Saturday morning, Sunil’s mother found him lying on his bed with blood oozing out of his right hand. She rescued her and he was rushed to Bentakata CHC. However, when his condition worsened, he was then shifted SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Bhubananand Moharana Emergency Officer of SCB Medical said, “He was admitted with a 4-inch wound on his right hand. His tendon injury has been repaired and his vitals are stable. Soon, he will be shifted to the psychiatry ward for counseling.”Moharana also asked the parents to look after their children and address any abnormal behavior that they display.
“We had talked to him about the game that he was playing on his game. He just said that it was a video game. Now, we are waiting for him to come back to his normal state so that he can pin point what game was he playing,” Moharana concluded.
